SDG Principal Jeremy Salmon P.E, S.E. and Associate Principal Zak Pruitt P.E., S.E. have published an article in the December 2025 issue of STRUCTURE magazine.

“Contractor-Ready Construction Documents—Part1” explores a holistic approach to design decisions by including contractor input during early design phases.

Jeremy and Zak discuss the advantages of early collaboration between structural engineers, architects, and contractors during design phases in order to make the most economical decisions on structural systems and use of building materials, as well as a means to avoid costly redesigns and schedule delays.

Stay tuned for Part 2 which will discuss contractor input that affects detailing, constructability issues, and construction sequencing.
