A new state-of-the-art pediatric hospital facility. Mary Bridge Children’s is the only Level II Pediatric Trauma hospital in Western Washington and after more than 30 years of sharing space with MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is getting a new home.
The new hospital building will consist of an approximately 321,703-square foot, 86-bed children’s hospital, that will be adjacent to the existing Children’s Hospital Clinic (CHC) West and across the street from Tacoma General Hospital. The facility will consist of a 6-story patient tower with a 3-story diagnostic and treatment (D&T) area between the patient tower and existing CHC West, plus a one-story imaging area between the patient tower and MLK Way. There will also be a 2-story tall space at one end of the tower. An helipad will be located on the roof, served by a stair and the trauma elevators.
Mary Bridge Children’s Outpatient Center will be incorporated into the new facility’s architectural design, bringing both inpatient and outpatient services to one location, and a new parking structure will connect directly to the hospital. Other design and architectural elements of the new hospital building will reflect Mary Bridge Children’s roots in Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest.
The new Mary Bridge Children’s building will include:
64 private pediatric Medical-Surgical Unit patient rooms
